Once again, Chris and Jim avoid discussing how the Iraq War is affecting the Ellsworth-Hostetler race. Does the war have anything to do with Ellsworth's lead in the polls? His lead can't be due only (or even primarily) to Mitch Daniels's unpopularity. "Terrorism" and "ethics" are not the only "national issues" in these local races. The disastrous Iraq War is undermining the credibility of Republican incumbents almost everywhere.

FDR said that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. The Republican's m.o. is fear. Just a comment to think about.

Thanks for the update. It sounds fascinating.

If the best the Republicans can do is to scare folks with Pelosi, who nobody knows, then they are in trouble.

It would be nice if you told us more about the local issues. What are they? How do they play out? How are the candidates responding to them?
