'TamCam:' Obama and the Olympics

The Fix has FixCam.

Fix Friend Tammy Haddad has "TamCam" -- offering brief, yet intimate sketches of politicians when the television cameras are off.

Her latest offering is a behind-the-scenes interview with Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) following last night's "Compassion Forum" at Pennsylvania's Messiah College.

Haddad -- along with The Post's Sally Quinn -- peppered Obama with a series of questions, including, most intriguingly, whether or not he supported the idea of President Bush boycotting the opening ceremonies this summer at the Beijing Olympics.

Obama said he had talked directly with the Dalai Lama on Sunday and the message was: "He needs the United States to help on these issues."

"What I said was I think a boycott of the ceremonies would be appropriate unless China takes specific steps to deal with [Chinese human rights violations]," Obama added.

I love the "Obama is out of touch" comments regarding his bitterness statement. How in touch is Hillary with me, a public school educator, when she has made over 100 million dollars? And how in touch is Hillary when she decided to become a carpetbagger she moved into one of the richest and most exclusive areas of New York State? The only one in touch may just be McCain!!!

From Dreams Of My Father;

"I learned to slip back and forth between my black and white worlds," he wrote in
"Dreams." "One of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were
courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied; they were
relieved -- such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't
seem angry all the time."

From Dreams Of My Father;

"To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more
politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist
professors and structural feminists."

From Dreams Of My Father;

"The emotion between the races could never
be pure..... THE OTHER RACE (WHITE) WOULD ALWAYS REMAIN JUST THAT: MENACING, ALIEN AND APART"

From Dreams Of My Father;

"THAT HATE HADN'T GONE AWAY," he wrote, BLAMING WHITE PEOPLE,- SOME CRUEL, SOME IGNORANT, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives

From Dreams Of My Father;

Obama's racial suspicions were not always limited to whites. For example, after making his first visit to Kenya, he wrote of being disappointed to learn that his paternal grandfather had been a servant to rich whites. He wrote in "Dreams" that the revelation caused "ugly words to flash across my mind. Uncle Tom. Collaborator. House n_gger."

From Dreams Of My Father;

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I
began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites"

From 'The Audacity Of Hope,

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an
ugly direction."

OBAMA's comments about the how "bitterness" has made small town people less tolerant of those who are different from them. Well, this is NOT the first, second, third, or LAST time that Obama's intolerance has seaped through

Wow Mark... that sure makes interesting reading.

I wonder if Bernstein was referring to Chris when he wrote:

"The willingness of so much of the press, sensitized to the Clintons' off-center complaints about one-sided coverage, to buy into this line is stunning."

It sure makes you wonder when there are 6 posts about Obama's "bitter" and only one about Clinton's "bosnia".

Let's stop and compare: one is a credible argument made at a bad time and in a bad way. The other is a complete lie, with another series of lies following from Bill...

Yet we have to read about this "bitter" stuff just because the Clinton circus keeps feeding it to their minions in the press.

Chris - Bernstein surely must be somewhat of an idol. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned for your own journalistic ability and integrity.

Two new sets of NC numbers from Rasmussen:

Dole 52/Hagan 39
Dole 51/Neal 37
MOE: +/-4.5%

Obama 47/McCain 47
McCain 51/Clinton 40
MOE: +/-4%

And Rasmussen hasn't posted it yet for us regular folks, but they apparently have a new poll showing Landrieu up over Kennedy 55-39. That's getting close to Warner/Gilmore territory. The Dems may well pick up 6-8 seats in the Senate this fall and not lose one.

At this point in time, I don't think too many people are interested in the Newsweek/WaPo idea of what reporting is.

Here's a real easy-to-state question for the WaPo to ask Obama:

"LouDobbs says you lied about his position on deportations. Can you point me to an example of LouDobbs supporting mass deportations as you claimed, or would you like to revise your earlier statement?"

I'd do it a bit differently, but I tried to make it as light as possible so the WaPo feels comfortable with asking it. Me, I'd do it this way:

"You lied about Lou Dobbs supporting mass deportations. Would you like to take this opportunity to retract your lie?"

Now, obviously, no one at the WaPo has "what it takes" to ask the question that way, so feel free to use the first version.

For extra credit, ask Obama about yet another misleading statement he made:

Whatever you do, please do some real reporting for a change.

Just in case our regular posters missed this (I've posted it way down the bottom previously)

Turns out USMC Mike is a closet Obama fan and I have the video to prove it!

He is the guy in the red t-shirt... and he keeps applauding! Look around the 3 minute mark for where he stands up with an ovation that tickles ALL the senses.

USMC... an explanation?

sounds like Sen Obama got another one of those annoying 3 A.M. calls from HC because she came out for the boycott weeks ago whie Sen Obama has taken 3 different stands now on a boycott. What will be tomorrow's Obama's position, number 4 perhaps?
Why is HC's call for a boycott weeks ago not the real story here?

Posted by: Leichtman | April 14, 2008 10:14 PM

that's not really an interesting question considering Obama's view on the issue has been public for quite some time. YAWN! How about asking a really thoughtful question, like how to square his advocacy for dialogue with Iran with his vote for sanctions against Burma.
