Obama Crowd Builds in Germany: Good or Bad?

Crowds gather to hear US Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama's speech in front of the Victory Column in Berlin on July 24, 2008. MICHAEL URBAN/AFP/Getty Images.
Barack Obama isn't speaking in Berlin until 1:15 eastern time today but the crowds are already massing. Rumors are that one million people could show up although Obama himself dismissed such suggestions, telling reporters: "I doubt we're gonna have a million screaming Germans."
A huge crowd today could be a mixed blessing for Obama. On the one hand, it is a potent symbol of the excitement his candidacy has caused worldwide. On the other, thousands and thousands of cheering Germans may not play well stateside.
Does a big crowd work to Obama's benefit or detriment? Or somewhere in between?

It is said Berliners were served beer and hotdog besides rock music. Don't forget that at the same time of this gathering in Germany, a homeless man in Florida was arrested and put behind bars for taking 42 cent in a mall fountain. 42 cent is worth one fourth od a hotdog. Who paid for theses foods. German government or Obama campaign? Oh! America.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's tail-end 'what the world thinks' of George Bush or Americans. What business of theirs is it how we run our country.
The whiners need to get over the fact that the US has been and for a long time will be the most influential nation in world history. Their envy is a bit sickening.
More sickening is that too many Americans have bought in to 'blame America first' sentimentality. We are to blame for fake polar bear deaths, the falling skies and villanous dictators in third world nations.
Were the USA as evil and imperialistic as they claim many of them would be speaking English and driving Fords. On the other hand, without the benevolence of this great nation much of the world would be speaking German.

Will Media Report Concert Before Obama's Berlin Speech?
News busters.org
Remember back in May when media gushed and fawned over a huge crowd in Portland, Oregon -- supposedly gathered to hear the words of Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama -- but chose not to report the free concert given before his speech?
Well, it has been learned that before the presumptive Democrat nominee spoke to a crowd in Berlin Thursday, two popular German acts -- reggae artist Patrice and rock band Reamonn -- entertained the gathering audience.
Will media report this tonight, or just gush and fawn over the huge crowd again?
While you ponder, here's what was reported by Spiegel Online moments ago (h/t Hot Air and Gateway):
++ Pop Concert for Obama Fans ++
6:33 p.m.: The tens of thousands of Obama fans are being entertained as they await the senator. The reggae musician Patrice kicked things off, followed by the rock band Reamonn.
I'm sure this will be part of ALL media reports concerning this speech...not!

If they like Obama in Germany then they can keep him. They liked Hitler too. America needs McCain.
McCain will be another war president. I don't know which category you can honestly put him under. But I certainly don't feel Hitler when I think Obama. Obama 08.

I'm not so sure why people think we need McCain. What do we really need about McCain? McCain is more of the same of what we've seen in some past presidents (albeit we've had some good ones) even the incumbent. If he's elected, we're going to get war war and more war. McCain is not interested in domestic matters and fixing the economy no matters what he says. I think it's time for a change, and Obama is it.

A Gathering of 200,000 enthusiastic men and women to hear a world leader speak on unity, peace and prosperity can never be a bad thing. Rather, it emphasized the fact that indeed if the humanity came together, great positive changes can be brought on our planet! Berliners' unprecedented response to Barack Obama's Big Speech almost sounded like the sounding of bigul of a new revolution on the globe! ... I wish I too were there!

People aren't Obama haters, just tired of empty preaching from his pulpit. As we say in Texas "Obama is all hat and no cattle". A many of pretty words but they are all socialist and empty. McCain has proven to be a man of action with his life long service to America and not changing his mind over which way the wind blows like Obama.

The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows: "Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

The part that gets me is that they try to make the quote creditable by saying that you can find it on page 261 of his book Audacity of Hope. This whole thing is felonious. There is no such statement of that kind in that book. I can vouch for that because I have purchased and actually read the book 2x. I wonder how many of y'all can say that.

It appears to be more appropriate for Obama to make friendly visit to America military bases in Germany, which has large America community, hospitals and schools , than making a big prepared speech in Berlin's famous park, in the shadow of monuments commemorating the victory of Soviet Red army conquering Berlin. When he talked about the Berlin walls, I hope he did not imply that the fence or wall America is building in the southern borders are barriers to free pass of people as in Berlin.

National Socialism was the religion of Hitler and State Socialism was Stalin's religion. What, do you suppose, would have been the reaction if those two systems had sent thousands of their adherents to the U.S. in the 1930s and 40s, built political enclaves (mosques) and preached hatred against America? Yet, that is precisely what is taking place by Islamic Fascists today and Americans, in their fermented ignorance, blithely say that Islam is "just another way to God." Nikita Krushchev said Communism would bury us from within without a shot being fired. He was wrong about Communism, although democrat candidates are still doing their best to make us into a socialist state. But Krushchev could well have said "Islam" and been correct. The sad thing is that this country does not have to let it happen, but probably will.

The Jihad Candidate - by Rich Carroll
Conspiracy theories make for interesting novels when the storyline is not so absurd that it can grasp our attention. 'The Manchurian Candidate' and 'Seven Days in May' are examples of plausible chains of events that captures the reader's imagination at best-seller level. 'What if' has always been the solid grist of fiction.
Get yourself something cool to drink, find a relaxing position, but before you continue, visualize the television photos of two jet airliners smashing into the Twin Towers in lower Manhattan and remind yourself this cowardly act of Muslim terror was planned for eight years.
How long did it take Islam and their oil money to find a candidate for President of the United States ? As long as it took them to place a Senator from Illinois and Minnesota ? The same amount of time to create a large Muslim enclave in Detroit ? The time it took them to build over 2,000 mosques in America ? The same amount of time required to place radical wahabbist clerics in our military and prisons as 'chaplains'?
Find a candidate who can get away with lying about their father being a 'freedom fighter' when he was actually part of the most corrupt and violent government in Ken ya 's history. Find a candidate with close ties to The Nation of Islam and the violent Muslim overthrow in Africa , a candidate who is educated among white infidel Americans but hides his bitterness and anger behind a superficial toothy smile. Find a candidate who changes his American name of Barry to the Muslim name of Barak Hussein Obama, and dares anyone to question his true ties under the banner of 'racism'. Nurture this candidate in an atmosphere of anti-white American teaching and surround him with Islamic teachers. Provide him with a bitter, racist, anti-white, anti-American wife, and supply him with Muslim middle east connections and Islamic monies. Allow him to be clever enough to get away with his anti-white rhetoric and proclaim he will give $834 billion taxpayer dollars to the Muslim controlled United Nationsfor use in Africa .
Install your candidate in an atmosphere of deception because questioning him on any issue involving Africa or Islam would be seen as 'bigoted racism'; two words too powerful to allow the citizenry to be informed of facts. Allow your candidate to employ several black racist Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan followers as members of his Illinois Senatorial and campaign staffs.
Where is the bloodhound American 'free press' who doggedly overturned every stone in the Watergate case? Where are our nation's reporters that have placed every Presidential candidate under the microscope of detailed scrutiny; the same press who pursue Bush's 'Skull and Bones' club or ran other candidates off with persistent detective and research work? Why haven't 'newsmen' pursued the 65 blatant lies told by this candidate during the Presidential primaries? Where are the stories about this candidate's cousin and the Muslim butchery in Africa ? Since when did our national press corps become weak, timid, and silent? Why haven't they regaled us with the long list of socialists and communists who have surrounded this 'out of nowhere' Democrat candidate or that his church re-printed the Hamas Manifesto in their bulletin, and that his 'close pastor friend and mentor' met with Middle East terrorist Moammar Gaddafi, (Guide of the First of September Great Revolution of the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya) Why isn't the American press telling us this candidate is supported by every Muslim organization in the world?
As an ultimate slap in the face, be blatant in the fact your candidate has ZERO interest in traditional American values and has the most liberal voting record in U.S Senate history. Why has the American main stream media clammed-up on any negative reporting on Barak Hussein Obama? Why will they print Hillary Rodham Clinton's name but never write his middle name? Is it not his name? Why, suddenly, is ANY information about this candidate not coming from main stream media, but from the blogosphere by citizens seeking facts and the truth? Why isn't our media connecting the dots with Islam? Why do they focus on 'those bad American soldiers' while Islam slaughters non Muslims daily in 44 countries around the globe? Why does our media refer to Darfur as 'ethnic cleansing' instead of what it really is; Muslims killing non Muslims! There is enough strange, anti-American activity surrounding Barak Hussein Obama to peek the curiosity of any reporter. WHERE IS OUR INVESTIGATIVE MEDIA!?
A formal plan for targeting America was devised three years after the Iranian revolution in 1982. The plan was summarized in a 1991 memorandum by Mohamed Akram, an operative of the global Muslim Brotherhood. 'The process of settlement' of Muslims in America , Akram explained, 'is a civilization jihad process.' This means that members of the Brotherhood must understand that their work in 'America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions.'
There is terrorism we can see, smell and fear, but there is a new kind of terror invading The United States in the form of Sharia law and finance. Condoning it is civilization suicide. Middle East Muslims are coming to America in record numbers and building hate infidel mosques, buying our corporations, suing us for our traditions, but they and the whole subject of Islam is white noise leaving uninformed Americans about who and what is really peaceful. Where is our investigative press? Any criticism of Islam or their intentions, even though Islamic leaders state their intentions daily around the globe, brings-forth a volley of 'racist' from the left-wing Democrat crowd.
Lies and deception behind a master plan - the ingredients for 'The Manchurian Candidate' or the placement of an anti-American President in our nation's White House? Is it mere coincidence that an anti-capitalist run for President at the same time Islamic sharia finance and law is trying to make advancing strides into the United States ? Is it mere coincidence this same candidate wants to dis-arm our nuclear capability at a time when terrorist Muslim nations are expanding their nuclear weapons capability? Is it mere coincidence this candidate wants to reduce our military at a time of global jihad from Muslim nations?
Change for America ? What change? To become another 'nation of Islam'?

A few days ago I heard Senator McCain state that Senator Obama would rather lose a war and win an election.
I reminded myself that my new bedroom set was made in Vietnam. That fact brought to mind the 58,000+ names on the black wall in Washington where of course we "honor" them. How much richer would our lives and those of their families have been if they were still with us? What might their contributions have been? Alas we will never know. My bedroom set marked "Made in Vietnam" tells me they died for nothing.
When Top Gun McCain admits the Vietnam war was a mistake and stops running on his war record he will indicate to me that he has learned something in 70 years. Today I think of those kids drafted off the streets, trained for 3 or 4 months and sent off to a jungle to "fight communism"
Too many of them died too far away from home for too little. There is no honor in that.
Shame on you Senator McCain.

Hmm, Reagan speaks to 20,000 handpicked supporters in front of the Brandenburg Gate and the Republicans proudly point to it as a highlight of his presidency.

First off crowds cheering for the US and waving American flags is A GOOD THING!! Considering they have been protesting whenever they see Bush, and Europeans view McCain as another Bush. We need our allies to help us in winning the war. McCain said he wishes to give a speech in Germany once he's President... please, as if John McCain could even draw an audience in Europe, he probably would draw protesters as he does in the US. McCain complained for Obama to go overseas then when Obama does he complains that he went overseas. Let's not forget when McCain himself went to Colombia and Canada... McCain sounds like a hypocrite to me!!

In all the commentary about "thousands and thousands of cheering Germans" it would be worth noting that there were literally thousands of Americans in the crowd.
From talking to people I encountered in the dense clusters waiting to get through security, I would estimate that 5-10% of the crowd were, like me, Americans working, studying, and living in Germany. Democrats Abroad had been working to get the word out and encourage the (sizable) American expat community to come. There were also a few stray Republicans there--one McCain supporter had made himself impossible to overlook with an oversize umbrella and handbills proclaiming his candidate of choice.
Today's Berlin is a cosmopolitan city, with tens of thousands of people from every corner of the globe living in it (not to mention the steady stream of tourists). The crowds between the Victory Column and Brandenburg Gate reflected that diversity. Of course the largest single nationality there was German. But don't forget the rest of us!

OK, I'm convinced. The world divides up in certain ways with certain ideologies and certain interests. The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is not part of any capitalist-democratic-republican-parliamentary West that I'm familiar with.
The more and more I think about it, the USA takes it's cues from how the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia is run. The ruling families throw red-meat religion at the masses to keep them pacified but xenophobic and full of hatred at the same time.
Wealth aggregates to the very largest corporations to the point that a small batch-process engineering shop with a market cap of $300 million is an irrelvancy.
And in addition to throwing red-meat at the masses to make them forget their sorry state, they ruling cadre attempts to provide low gasoline prices and war.
When that doesn't work anymore, paranoia at the top and anger at the bottom get very high. That's when the USA goes back to failsafe: ANTI-BLACK RACISM.
But that's not even working. Obama has a 6 point lead on McCain and in the rest of the developed world including ISRAEL Obama has a 70 point lead on McCain.
So, let's say the unlikely thing happens and some weird fantasy that Michelle Obama is a communist takes hold and McCain squeaks out a 290-248 win in the Electoral College. What's been won? The USA has solidfied it's spot as the Saudi Arabia of the West, more wars are coming, and the rest of the world will crush the US Dollar to the point that any number of "surges" can work like a galley-slave but the cities and towns of the USA will still burn because of food and gas shortages.
Let's say Obama wins but sometime between his election and swearing in, two tractor-trailers jacknife on I-95. Bush invokes his executive order of May 2007 and continues his 2nd term indefinitely.
What does everyone think the world would do in response? Praise Bush's decisive leadership? The hell you say. Every dollar will hit the market simultaneously and Bush will be dictator alright -- of a country with a civil war and burning to a crisp.
Isn't electing Obama the best alternative?

What?
What's so horrible about Obama greeting thousands of cheering ALIES???
Where's the *problem*???!
Imagine this. A candidate for president of the US of A spoke to thousands overseas and didn't ONCE embarrass us or insult them!
Now THERE'S a concept and the majority of Americans are cheering for that alone!
What a mammoth relief to see anyone but dumbya take the stage ANYWHERE in my name.

Hello all RNC/GOP Card Holders..
This is how desperate the RNC/GOP closeted queens are making up now with more attack ad's
Found on www.factcheck.org.
The RNC made a $3 million buy for its ad, titled "Balance," which is airing in the battleground states of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It began airing July 5 and is scheduled to run through July 15.
The ad's most misleading claim is that Obama proposes "no new solutions" to the intertwined climate change and energy crises. In fact, Obama has an entire Web page dedicated to his proposals for the future of energy policy. One is a 10-year, $150 billion spending plan that would go toward clean coal technology; further development of plug-in hybrid cars; and commercialization of wind, solar and other renewable fuels. The RNC and McCain may not like all of Obama's ideas, just as Obama may not support all of McCain's, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist. While McCain recently proposed The Lexington Project, which includes spending $2 billion annually toward clean coal technology advancement, McCain doesn't have a plan comparable to Obama's in scale of spending. In addition, Obama's spending proposal predates McCain's Lexington Project by over six months"
Lie out of his one you liars....
And guess what CBS News had more gaffes from McCain in that "edited" version of an "exclusive" interview...

To SherryKay: You had better be Jewish if those are the kinds of jokes you're going to make and not expect reprisal.
You're really trivializing the Holocaust in the service of trashing Obama? For real?
I'll try again to write what I had about the "dirty wars" of the 1980s. West Germany had nothing to do with any of that. Barack Obama had nothing to do with that. The Black Panthers had nothing to do with that. Jesse Jackson had nothing to do with that. Michael Vick and 50-cent and Pacman Jones and Dexter Manley for god's sakes had nothing to do with that.
The USA under Reagan was running it and has Argentine, Chilean and Paraguayan Jewish blood on its hands.

Thanks for the censorship.
My point is that as a Jew I don't have to forget German atrocities but I can accept the successful, peaceable republic they've become.
To play on Nazi imagery in attacking Obama is unconscionable. It's not YOUR thing. So, leave it alone, please.
I have no problems with Germany as it is today. I have no END of problems with America as it is today.

The thing that terrifies me about today's breed of "conservative" is this:
They claim to want government off their back. Low taxes, free enterprise, no medicare or welfare, privatized Social Security. They also want a huge military, and total "security" from terrorism.
But, these are the same people who say: "I don't care if there are cameras everywhere. I don't care if people are being locked up without due process. I don't care if the government is wiretapping people without judicial review. They can look at whatever they want. Hey, I'm not doing anything wrong!"
That is the thought process most damaging to America as we know it.
It doesn't matter if you're "not doing anything wrong." All that matters is if someone with power THINKS you're doing something wrong. If they don't agree with you, one day you'll disappear.
I often wonder what we've lost in the last 232 years. The United States was designed to have a government that lived in fear of its citizens and the individual states, not vice versa. That mindset doesn't exist anymore. I assume that our military has something to do with it. Not that there's anything that could be done about that. We need the military, and we have for a long time now. I don't dispute that at all.
Freedom is tricky, isn't it? Freedom means that people might get offended sometimes. It means that people might even get hurt once in awhile. We need to be careful about how we temper safety with freedom. We have to find a way to protect ourselves from physical harm while preserving freedom.
Surely we can do that. It will likely take the best minds among us to discover that way. But the way surely must exist. We cannot give in to fear at the expense of that which this nation was founded on.
Freedom is not about commerce. It is the sum total of our desire to seek our own way, in every way possible. To give in on our basic principles in the guise of protecting ourselves is to turn our backs on what every American soldier has died for, from the battlefields of Yorktown and Bunker Hill, to the streets of Baghdad and Kabul.

zouk,
I suppose now isn't the time to mention that supply-side economics have led us into two recessions?
As for healthcare being a right, not a privilege, read the preamble to the Constitution. I think that it's not a wild extrapolation to see healthcare as covered under "promote the general welfare".
Don't argue the Constitution with me. Cons like to omit too much from it, like the first half of the Second Amendment, for example.
Where's your proof of the oil available offshore or in ANWR? You don't have any. You know what I'd like? I'd like to find a source of energy that isn't quite so finite. Why are conservatives so against that? Could it be that oil companies keep them in office?
As for education, what can I say? Dems don't get it right, either. But Obama wants education to start early, which we need. And, unless we do something about parents having to work long hours to make ends meet, the government needs to do something to fill the gap.
See, when you think Lib, you think "big government" or "socialism" or something. Libs want good government.
See, government has a role to play. It's role should be to pick up the slack when the marketplace or the people have demonstrated that they can't do the job on their own. Like national defense, for instance.
The marketplace can't handle healthcare, and it's pretty sketchy on energy. You know how we know that? Because the marketplace is pricing it out of reach. So what? We let those who can't afford it rot?
I lived in California at the height of its energy crisis. You know why we had an energy crisis? We deregulated it.
You know why the housing market is collapsing? We stopped regulating the mortgage industry.
Why do we need regulation? Because corporations, as entities, have no civic conscience. Their first obligation is to the shareholders. Beyond that, it's up to executives. And a lot of those guys don't care, they give to charity to make themselves look good while screwing workers out of pensions. It's self-interest.
Government is what keeps them from running wild. Have a look at the definitions of corporatism and fascism. There's a lot in common between them.

"However, it is racism enacted by the leftists - so it is inoculated, untouchable and not actionable."
The hypocrisy of the tattered remnants of today's GOP, all distilled in one perfect example. The stupid and anachronistic left-right dichotomy, the Rovian turning a weakness (i.e.--incipient racism among some of the ultra-right fools), it's all there. Now that the 28% coalition has dwindled down to a bunch of rich people who don't really care who the President is so long as the can pay as few taxes as possible, along with a bunch of low-information voters who can't abide voting for someone either better-educated and/or darker than they are, today's GOP is going be going through a bit of a long night before it sees daylight.
Can't say they don't deserve it.

I support Obama now, but his speech did rub me wrong! They don't give a damn about what sacrifices we made in 2 World Wars or the Berlin Airlift. Everything up to this trip in Germany, I didn't find objectionable. I just didn't care for him pontificating at the Brandenburg Gates! They don't support us anywhere, and their UN troops in Afghanistan have orders to stand down. All he needed to do was meet with the heads of state, and that's all. I'm beginning to doubt my support for him again, since I was an avid HRC supporter at first!

As the child of a diplomat that grew up abroad, I care that the word hates us as never before after eight years of President Bush pro war arroganance.
This speech and tour raised the hope of the world in a way Senator McCain only wishes he could dream of. McCain is seen as another Bush who cannot remember names of facts but can certainly attest to being a war monger.
Anyone on this list who suggests Obama is an empty suit might honestly ask themself what makes them so qualified to make this suggestion without checking their facts.
As an attorney and Constitutional scholar I would say that anything else Senator Obama has as credentials is icing on the cake. He is our Senator and he is certainly not an empty suit.
Analyze Pres Bushes credentials and if you want to look at an empty suit there you have it. Senator McCain while being an honorable veteran is certainly an empty suit with a hot temper that would continue to wage war on everyone.

While the socialists are fawning and drooling over what's his name traveling on our dime to attempt to promote himself, another black American is also on an overseas tour. The difference is stark.
The other black American actually well versed and very experienced in foreign policy.
The other black American actually - constitutionally - represents America abroad.
Unfortunately, this black American is not a socialist pandering fool. So, like Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas and many other successful black Americans, Condi Rice is relegated to the uncle tom category of nothingness.
That is the ultimate in racism.
However, it is racism enacted by the leftists - so it is inoculated, untouchable and not actionable.
Hooray for the scummy left.

"The Coast Guard has stopped 59 ships from traversing a closed stretch of the Mississippi River from New Orleans to the Gulf of Mexico Thursday while hundreds of workers tackled the difficult task of cleaning up about 400,000 gallons of heavy oil that spilled when a barge and tanker collided.
Accidents happen. Would it be somehow more palatable if a bulk oil carrier from the gulf sank on our shores?
Lets see if this works... We can enrich those who hate us - regardless of a whether or not there is an inexperienced son of man at the helm - and then give them the means to buy our country. Or, we can get our own oil out of our own ground and keep the our money here.
The left mantra seems to be: You can't drill your way out of this. Well, talking about it doesn't seem to be much of a solution, either - does it?
Seems to me, we had eight years of a leftist administration and there were how many advances in self sufficiency in energy? Now we have had over two years of pure leftist ideology in congress and they have done...... what?
Tell us about change. I mean that - tell us exactly what will change.
Tell us how a lightweight nobody with exactly zip - except for lying about committee assignments - of a legislative history is going to change things.
Then tell us why you believe that a lightweight nobody who has done exactly nothing positive for America is now going to save America.

John McMummy needs to broaden his focus and vocabulary, for example:
The 'Surge' - is really a troop increase intended to correct a strategic and tactical blunder. It has helped but is only part of the success so far.
The 'Splurge' - is the massive amount of money spent in Iraq on US DOD Contractors and bribe money for Sunni militia, not to mention the $2 Billion USD in cash money $$$ handed out to Iraqis on the streets (now thats what I call a stimulus package)
The 'Merge' - is the combining of Iraqi culture, Islam, and democratic concepts mostly tainted by neo-con ideas, to establish a new Iraqi central government.
The 'Purge' - is the smack-down Maliki gave to Bush admin (and McSame) by asking US troops to leave by 2010.

One thing the libs are absolutely correct about. We can't drill our way out of this - because they block it every time.
In 1974/5 our government told us we had run out of oil. Well, hundreds of millions of barrel later - we are still knee deep in oil.
Our drilling and oil extraction methods, whether on land or at sea, are exemplary. Offshore platforms are havens for millions of game fish. With the exception of a drunken ship's captain, our efforts in Alaska have been stellar.
Nobody does it like we do. We have the best technology and the most dedicated employees.
What the libs hate is success. Whether it be the American worker or American technology or the American military. They exhibit this intolerance in their idiotic outcome based education efforts, their dumbing down of every facet of life, their proud mocking of bravery and sacrifice, and their support of unqualified, inexperienced candidates which best mirror their own startling resumes of, well, nothing.
Those who can't - whine. Those who can't - vote socialist. Bring everyone down to their disgusting level to make them feel better about their own failures.

American oil company are being prevented from drilling offshore in Florida, so that Chinese oil companies can drill the same waters. Yes, Cuba has allowed Chinese companies to start drilling on the north shore of Cuba. These would be the same Florida waters and the same oil resourses that the Democratic Party is preventing U.S. companies from drilling.
The Democratic Party will fight hard to prevent any drilling in the newly release information about oil/gas resourse areas of the Artic, so that Russia can drill for all the resourses there too.
Democratic Party (USA) = Marxist Party. Why else would they be helping the Cuban/Chinese and Russian companies exploit the resourses that are available to American companies. Of course, Castro did endorse Obama for President.

It was a great speech and America should be proud of it. Obama proved to America he is smarter than McCain, capable of remembering what country he is in and to whom he is speaking
Where to start.... First of all, if you think Obama wrote this speech - or recited it from memory - you are impossibly deluded. So concluding that someone is smarter than someone else by reading words a third party has written....
One thing Obama was not aware of - and is not aware of - are the sacrifices of real Americans who make things like a democratic Germany happen. Whose sacrifices make his first trip - 5 years into the conflict - to Iraq a possibility. It is very telling that the courageous son of man was able to stand in Iraq safely and spout off about how sacrifices he cannot comprehend and votes he did not have the courage to make had nothing to do with making Iraq safe enough for him to parasitically take part of the success.
Just like he stands where real presidents have stood in Germany and pretend he had something to do with ending the cold war.
Just like pretending he is on a banking committee - he is all bs. Complete and utter bullshi*.

James, James - it would probably be advisable to lay off the pop-psychology. It makes your already foolish ideas seem outright dizzy. In fact I have many Liberal friends. some are silly and some aren't. But silliness and stupidity are different. for example:
you said
"That we, as a nation, need to begin to look out for each other more. As much as it is necessary for each of us to tend our own garden, America is only as strong as the weakest among us. " this is platitude, silly enough but not based in anythinkg but Obama like emptiness. not in the stupid category though.
next
"That we can't drill our way out of our dependency on foreign oil. T. Boone Pickens is right, but not about ANWR or offshore oil exploration. Neither will yield significant supply, and they'll sully two national treasures in the process while costing billions of dollars." now this is stupid. Of course we can drill our way out. when you need oil, you go get more. the facts are that there is considerable supply there. you are just factually wrong and the technology results in a non-sullied enviro. the idea that it will cost us is moronic.
next:
That healthcare is a right, not a privilege for those who can afford it. For people who rail about the rights of the unborn and the sanctity of life, conservative leaders don't much care what happens to you after you pop out of the womb, except they REALLY hope you'll join the military at 18, mostly so they don't have to." now you're getting into loony liberal preaching. I never saw bill of rights number X proclaiming this particular right. did I miss it or are you inventing again like Al gore? and conservatives giove more to charity and more to family programs than Libs resulting in more balanced upbringing for children. as opposed to "get them on the gov feed line and keep them as voters forever" approach of Libs - resulting in decades of dependence. Welfare reform worked.
join the military so they don't have to - i will write this off as the exeburance of youth or some other temporary idiocy.
"That tax cuts for the richest 1% do nothing for the economy in the long term. If you need proof, then notice how the well the economy has done after a few years of trickle-down travesties (Today and under Reagan/Bush Sr.)" no need to debate this, the facts are 100% against you. when you Libs begin to understand econ we can revisit this.
"That teaching kids how to take a standardized test isn't the path to quality education."
this was the Kennedy bill the puvblic was clamoring for. you know, even standards across the board. I thought you Libs loved dragging every down so they could be even? Have you thought better about it?
so as you can see, it is not you personally I despise, you may be an allright person. but your misguided and naive views of reality leave a lot to be desired. Most liberals respond with insults and other moonbattery. I am not sure they have the thinking power to actually consider the issues. why else would they support an empty suit? although I must admit he does represent you well and even fools need representation.

Chris I agree with you on the analysis of Obama's speech. It was a good speech, not to partisan but yet uplifting and presidential.
Now we will the see shall see how Obama's Germany speech to over 200,000 Germans plays out in the media, especially the conservative media.
The visual effect of this entire week of Obama's international tour has been "awesome"! Compare this to McCain's photo-ops this week!
For Obama:

Let me get this straight, Chris - are you actually suggesting that it could be bad that Obama might be *too* popular?
Wow - so much for the liberal media bias, eh?

Thanks, zouk. I do have a lot to learn. So does everybody alive on this planet.
Anybody who says they know it all is lying, both to themselves and to us.
I find it more than a little sad, really. Your problem isn't that you're ignorant. It's not that you don't care, and it's not that you're a liar.
Your problem is that you're mean.
You hate liberals. There's nothing I or anyone else can do about that. You hate them. And though you'll disagree and offer your standard litany of reasons why, you really don't know why you hate us. You just do.
There are a lot of people like you around here, left and right. "There's no such thing as a good idea from a liberal, because liberals can't have good ideas." Right?
The trouble is, that's the same thinking that we used to hear (and still do, from time to time) about women and minorities. "They can't possibly be allowed to vote, because they're inferior. We know better. We're smarter."
And so it goes. There may never solution for that kind of intolerance. So, I guess, the first step is recognizing that it exists.
I'll pray for you and for everyone who believes that there's is the only way. There are a lot of you out there.
God Bless.

Obama is what an American president should speak and look: friendly and dignified not smirking and swaggering; highly articulate and intelligent not cartoonish and snarky. We got so used to Bush getting booed that some of the Bushies here think that was a good thing. The world has always looked to the American president for inspiration until George Bush which was a very strange phenomena. Of course, it is a relief that Obama gave a beautiful speech and he did not disappoint.

They used to decieve us that Europe and the US are more developed politically, socially and in all other aspects but when one reads some of the comments about Senator Obama even from Mr. Mc Caine him self, you not far from Africa rulers especially regarding campaigns. Please fellow Africans stop suffering in long cues for Visas to these so called developed countries which personalise campaigns instead of discussing issues!
