What to Pack?

A lot of the questions we get from readers about a given destination have to do with weather -- when's the best time to go, what clothes to pack, etc. Me, I swear by layers, but there also are some neat weather-data tools out there that can help take some of the guesswork out of trip-planning.
I like Weather Underground's new trip-planning function: You enter the city or country you want to visit, plug in your dates and up pops a historical database for the weather conditions during those dates in past years. It not only tells you the average highs and lows, but calculates what the chances are for a hot, warm, freezing or rainy day. Say you're going to Quito, Ecuador, this summer -- the data tell you that it's likely to be 67 degrees F and sunny, with 0% chance of a hot or freeezing day. For a reality check, you can click on the adjacent current five-day forecast.
Weather.com offers historical weather data too, but it's not as easy to access. It does have, however, a nifty "What to Pack" function. Plug in your destination and dates and you get a packing list with images you can click and drag into your virtual suitcase. For Quito, looks like I'll need a sweater, light jacket, long pants and close-toed shoes for my summer trip. Good to know! There's also a "Climate Comparison" function where, if you're debating between two destinations, you can compare typical weather.
Other good weather sites out there anyone can recommend?

NOAA - Natl. Oceanic & Atmospheric Admin. has a great site - where a lot of other sites get THEIR info. I always check them before leaving town.

The link is a joke! Total waste of time. Any cretin could come up with the same suggestions without the bother of going to this site which purports to assist one in selecting clothing to pack for a particular season in a particular country. Useful only for the TOTALLY clueless.
