Hip New Hotel Review Site

Vibeagent.com, a new travel site launched not long ago by a couple of young travel entrepreneurs, is positioning itself to be the first trip-planning stop for savvy travelers. One key feature of the site is the personal takes by Joe and Jane Traveler of hotels that they have patronized. So far the reviews posted seem refreshingly honest and devoid of the kind of personal rage that typifies other sites that allow travelers to be instant hotel critics. The site also has links that allow you to book hotels. It's a kind of fresher, more youthful version of the increasinging popular Tripadvisor.com.
Borrowing from myspace.com, Vibe also has tools that allow road warriors to connect with one another. It's the online version of the kind of cool cafe or hotel lobby where travelers meet and make plans together. As the name suggests, its goal is to be hip and up-to-the-minute. So far, so good. The site, still in the beta phase, is preparing for a formal launch in early October. But you can already become a part of the Vibe world simply by logging on and signing up.
Let us know what you think of it. Also, if you've run across any other cool new online travel tools, pass them on.

I like virtualtourist.com. I always go there to look at hotel reviews (too much anger at tripadvisor). They have a networking portion to that I tend to avoid, but they also have sections where travelers can recommend packing lists for a specific destination (or else I never would have thought to purchase a waterproof camera for Niagara Falls, duh) and they also list tourist traps and places to beware of pick-pocketing. They just added a feature that you can check rates for hotels, but that part of it is still a little complicated.

That's funny, I thought TripAdvisor WAS a hip travel review site. I think I'll be sticking with them: they've got a bigger body of reviews, and I've got enough social-networking online memberships. I can't justify yet another profile just for travel discussions.
