New England Snow: It Just Keeps Coming

Strap on those skis and head to New England!

Killington, Vt. has already received 10 inches of new snow in 2008, and nearly set a record in December, with 92.5 inches. A grand total of 117 inches have fallen this season, and now the resort is reporting sunshine and soft snow.

It's the same story throughout New England. Waterville Valley in New Hampshire (an hour away from Manchester airport, which is a cheap flight from BWI) got more than five feet of snow in December, with a total snowfall amount of more than six feet for the season.

Snow has also been falling out West. Steamboat in Colorado received 126 inches in December, and Park City Mountain, Utah received 31 inches of new powder between Christmas and New Year's Eve. And blizzard conditions and heavy snow throughout the West are being forecast for this weekend.

Even our own mid-Atlantic resorts have been hit: Wisp in
Western Maryland got a foot of new snow in the past week, and Snowshoe in West Virginia has received seven inches since yesterday. With temperatures at local slopes expected to hit the 40s by weekend, expect some fun spring skiing conditions.
