Enter Now: Introducing the Friday Photo

Now there's another reason to look forward to Friday afternoons. Starting today, we'll be running a travel photo each week in this space, and we want you to provide it. We're starting out with Travel staffer Christina Talcott's shot from a recent trip to South Africa. Christina writes:

I took this picture at Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. My friend Abby and I had signed up for a 10 a.m. game drive even though we thought the animals might not be out much in the mid-day heat. We were the only two people on the tour, so we had the ranger all to ourselves and peppered her with questions while she drove the truck: "What kind of bird is that?" "Do you think that elephant's going to charge us?" "What does a dung beetle do with his ball of dung?" One of the most exciting moments was spotting a group of zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and impala all hanging out together on a hot summer day. (In this picture, the wildebeest is just out of sight.) The young giraffe is lying down, resting his long, skinny legs, while a zebra rests his head on his friend's back. I found out later that they do this, partly so one can keep watch for predators while the other one eats ..... . and partly because sometimes you just need to put your head down somewhere soft and stripey.

Now it's your turn. Some guidelines:

1. Email ONE photo to us travel@washpost.com. Put "Friday Photo" in the subject field, and include your name, address and phone number.

2. Write a paragraph like the one above explaining what's going on in the picture, when you took it and why it's significant to you.

3. Photos should be from a recent trip, voyage, soujourn, vacation, getaway . . whatever you want to call. But keep it within the last month or two. It can be either regional or from far away as, say, South Africa.

4. Winners will receive a Travel section trinket (totebag, mousepad, etc.). Winning entries are subject to editing. Employees of The Post and their immediate families are not eligible. No purchase necessary.
