The Friday Photo: Monkey Business

First, thanks to all of you who sent us photos for this new Travel Log weekly feature. That said, we want to remind you: This isn't a competition for great animal pictures. But we fell in love with this photo the moment we saw it and had to share it with you. All together now: Awwwwww.....

It comes from Aruna Bhat of Bangalore, India, who had this to say about the shot:

"I woke up on a cold morning in Pushkar, Rajasthan, India and decided to go for a walk and see the town waking up. There was hardly any activity. A few men were walking on the street and a couple of tiny shops were open
making tea. I was wondering if it was worth coming out in the cold. It turned out rewarding after all. A few langurs(monkeys) were sitting in a huddle to escape from the morning cold, still feeling sleepy. A tiny one
peeped out from it's mother's protections and peered at me inquisitively."

We'll be sending Aruna a Travel section tote bag and a note of thanks for getting this feature off to such a strong start.

Now it's your turn. Some guidelines:

1. Email ONE photo to us travel@washpost.com. Put "Friday Photo" in the subject field, and include your name, address and phone number.

2. Write a paragraph like the one above explaining what's going on in the picture, when you took it and why it's significant to you.

3. Photos should be from a recent trip, voyage, soujourn, vacation, getaway . . whatever you want to call. But keep it within the last month or two. It can be either regional or from far away as, say, South Africa.

4. Winners will receive a Travel section trinket (totebag, mousepad, etc.). Winning entries are subject to editing. Employees of The Post and their immediate families are not eligible. No purchase necessary.

Do you want additional pictures each week or will you be keeping previously submitted photos on hand for future weeks' contests?

In regards to Brian's question, we'll be keeping past entries for future weeks in case we need them, but the newest photos go to the top of the heap. We encourage everyone to send in their best shot from a recent trip.
