New Loudoun PAC

A new political action committee has launched in Loudoun, and it has a familiar target.

The Loudoun Coalition, which formed in August, "stands in opposition to five incumbent supervisors who are standing for reelection," according to a Thursday press release announcing the group's formation.

If you live in Loudoun, you can probably guess which five they are talking about -- Stephen J. Snow (Dulles), Mick Staton Jr. (Sugarland Run), Jim E. Clem (Leesburg), Eugene A. Delgaudio (Sterling) and Bruce E. Tulloch (Potomac), the board's pro-growth Republicans.

"Sounds like one more guy having fun attacking the Republicans," Staton said Friday.

The five are the same group targeted by slow-growther Scott K. York (I-At Large), the board's chairman, who criticized them in a letter to more than 9,000 homes earlier this month. And it's the same group on the outs with Voters for Loudoun's Future, a well funded slow-growth PAC.

The head of the new group is Paul Siker, a Waterford business man who was at one time involved with the Loudoun County Republican Committee, but apparently parted ways with the committee. On the PAC's web site, he uses photos of traffic jams and graphics of big green dollar signs to condemn the county's rapid expansion and soaring taxes.

But he's not saying much about this coalition, not even how many members it has. Reached by phone yesterday, he said, "Without being too mysterious or elusive...the membership is definitely vibrant and growing."

His is the only name listed on the press release and the PAC's Statement of Organization.
