Bowerbank Enters the Lt. Gov.'s Race
Jon Bowerbank, a businessman and member of the Russell County Board of Supervisors, filed papers with the state Board of Election to run for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in 2009.
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (R) plans to run for re-election.
Bowerbank, 48, is the founder and chief executive of EMATS Inc. in southwest Virginia, which designs and builds pipelines, roads and other infrastructure for utility and energy companies.
He said the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the Republican party's failures nationally motivated him to get involved in politics. He has put in $75,000 of his own money to start hiring staff, and has been traveling around the state to meet people.
Bowerbank is the first Democrat to enter the race. Finance Secretary Jody W. Wagner of Virginia Beach also is considering running for lieutenant governor.

Mr. Bowerbank is a good man with good ideas. He is NOT a minion of big oil. Do research before you pass judgment.
