Arenas update

There was a report out there last night that Gilbert Arenas said he was thinking about having an MRI exam on that sore left knee but according to the team, he has not scheduled one as of yet. I spoke with Arenas after the game last night and he never mentioned the possibility of having an MRI nor did he suggest that he was thinking of asking Eddie Jordan to cut his minutes. He only said that he felt "fine" and was curious to see how it the knee would feel today after a flight home and a night of sleep.

The team did not have a morning shootaround for tonight's game because of the back-to-back situation so we won't have an idea of what GIlbert and the team is thinking until pregame. I'll check back later from the arena.

What was Jason Kidd talking with Gilbert about at the end of the game? It looked to be a serious talk that Jason was having with him.

What is the big deal about an MRI? It's not like they are performing exploratory surgery. Geez....

Yeah, thats a good question. Can you find out what Kidd was telling Arenas? Maybe he was telling him about coming back from knee injuries?

I tivo the games and I was watching over that segment with Kidd and Arenas. I could see Arenas mouthing the word "pass" as he was talking to Kidd.

To me, it seemed like Kidd was giving Gil some advice for end of game situations. He probably told Gil to try to kick out and make the extra pass instead of always going for the shot himself.

Yea, the conversation was very curious. But Gil did seem to be listening intently, soaking up what the veteran was saying.

Maybe the "pass" thing could've been Kidd telling Gil that, coming off a knee injury, Gil needs to let his offense come to him naturally and focus more on improving as a passer and really being a *cough* point guard until the Hibachi is fully heated.

But I'm sure we all can speculate all day.

But on the real, who the heck is going to keep up with AI? I know he's older and all that, but I'm sure he wants to kill it being back in DC.

My humble opinion is that Arenas needs to have his minutes monitored and no back-to-back games until his knee gets better. He is not going to play it back into shape. Far too many athletes rush back and the longterm consequences are not good. Too bad EJ doesnt have enough of a backbone to stand up to Arenas and mandate this. I am sure the ultra competitor in Gilbert is clouding his judgement and pushing him to play though it. Not a good thing for the longterm health of the franchise and the franchise player...

As much as it pains me (and does it ever) -- maybe Hollinger's overall point is coming true on some level?

Gil has a new blog post.

Talks about the shot last night, conversation with J-Kidd, etc., etc.

(Having your knee drained 2x in 3 weeks) + (Playing 40+ minutes every night) = Nothing good.
