Senators Gone Wild!
Nothing like a little Senate floor rumble to remind us that all politics is theater. Or so says Media Notes critic Howard Kurtz.
Truthdr also sniffed out grand acting. "The Democrats have drawn the line in the sand and are about to be buried on this. Reports last night called the effort a means to change the subject not concern for the situation, interesting to say the least...By sand bagging and surprise the Dems have removed any civility in the Senate. Carping and muck raking would be fine if Bush were running in 2008 but he is not."
But johnrun1 , who has seen many a comment by the forum's truthdr, says he's tired of out of hand dismissals. "It is important to get the truth out in whether this Administration deceived the country into this war. The truth is the most important thing. You always pooh-pooh any effort to get to the truth by saying it isn't important."
Goofticket also sees the demand for further inquiry into the Iraq war case as important. "The GOP Senate is insane. They have to be. Or on crack. Just because the DEMs are demanding the second Iraq inquiry into WMDs is no reason to scream bloody murder like they are. Are they afraid that something illegal will be exposed? Will their beloved Bush go down in flames? The American people deserve the second inquiry, and it should be made public. We nee to get to the bottom of this regardless of the outcome."
ettedms would have liked to see the Democrats take action long ago. "Finally. I can only add, 'What took them so long?' The Democrats stood still while the Bush administration advanced 'flavor of the month' reasons for going to war in the face of the lack of WMDs. Meanwhile, 2000 of our own died and thousands more have come home missing body parts. The response of the GOP and its mouthpiece pundits last week was informative in this regard. They conveniently sidestepped the war itself as if it didn't exist while claiming Libby had been caught on a technicality...The Democrats have had enough and are no longer afraid to say, 'It's the war, stupid!'"

As long as all the major news outlets are owned by corporations and the gateways of information are held in the hands of a few, there is no real discussion on ANY subject which threatens the bottom line! Money and access. I can only go to the blogs and a few independent sites to get anything like the real info. My apologies to Mr. Kurtz, whom I admire, but if he really had some blockbuster news negative to the Admin, he would be stopped by the Washington Post, of this I am sad to say, is truly depressing. Woodward has turned and it is time for some young reporters to at least TRY to be objective.
