Virginia Elections

Its down to the wire for the Virginia Gubernatorial elections and I thought it would be fun to see who's hawking for whom among readers posting comments to the Race to Richmond blog.

Colin Sheldon writes, "Kilgore's appearances were not the only efforts of his campaign on Saturday. Northern Virginians received a mailer today, attacking Tim Kaine and extolling the virtues of Republican State Senator Russ Potts. A big, last minute expenditure by the Potts campaign on the eve of the election? Not so. On page 2, we find the real source. 'Paid for and authorized by Virginians for Jerry Kilgore.' To date, Kilgore's campaign has been nothing but smears and innuendos against the other guy. It is certainly ironic -- and sadly cynical -- that the first positive visions Kilgore can provide in this campaign are about Russ Potts and not himself."

Well, Republicans aren't the only ones playing that game, says Edward L. Adams, Jr.. "Oh please?..The Virginia Democratic Party started the divide and conquer tactic when they sent a so called comparison mailer to Republicans living in State Senator Jane Wood's district in Fairfax County. The purpose of the mailer was to let Republicans know a pro-life independent candidate was running. This mailer helped Leslie Byrne win her state senate race in 1999....VA Democratic party is so hypocritical."

But for my money, Omar says what really matters here. "I just hope voters can see through all the misleading campaign tactics to know what's the right decision for Virginia."

At any rate, out here in the rural Blue Ridge, I'm casting my vote for...aw, just kidding. Here in Your Post land, you do the talking. Besides, my editor would never let my political opinions get onto the screen.
